Science and Social Studies

Today we learned about sorting rocks in science. We also learned about winter holidays in social studies.

In science we sorted by color, shapes, sizes and textures. Some rocks are sparkly and some were tiny. We looked at river rocks again. We sorted the rocks on a paper with circles. It was very fun.

In social studies we learned about winter holidays like Kwanzaa, Hanuka, Christmas, and New Years. Hanuka has a candle and Kwanzaa does too. The candle holder are different. The Kwanzaa candle is called a Kinnara. It has 7 candles. Three candles on one side and three candles on the other and a black candle in the middle. Kwanzaa uses the colors green, red and black. Hanuka candles are called a menorah and it has 9 candles. 4 on each side and one in the middle. A dreidel toy is played with during Hanuka. On New Years Eve we use a clock to count down to the New Year. We learned that Santa has many different names around the world.
